For centuries Belgian farmers used to harvest the season’s last berries and fruits to throw them into beer kettles to flavor local brews. These spontaneously fermented beers that use wild yeasts were called Lambics, the fruity versions became known such as kriek and framboise. Stallhagen Blueberry Ale was born out of inspiration from these famous fruit beers.
To create the deliciously balanced Blueberry Ale, brewmaster Mats Ekholm combined Belgian malts, Nordic blueberries and American hops. Color in tones of reddish orange with dense head and subtle blueberry in aroma. Medium-bodied Blueberry Ale is a fresh and fruity full-flavor beer for the summer season’s parties. Brisk hops enhance its dryness and refresh the beer adding a touch of black current leaf to its blueberry aroma.
